Alumess was founded 1955 in The Netherlands as Metaalwarenindustrie Lichtenvoorde BV, by Mr. Louis Mols Sr. The core business was sand/gravity casting and machining of aluminium/ brass castings.
During 1955 and 1975 Metaalwarenindustrie Lichtenvoorde specialized on brass hardware and became one of the world leading suppliers for the antique clocks industry. Alumess supplied the world market leaders in the Netherlands, UK, Germany, Austria and USA.
Between 1970 and 1980 Metaalwarenindustrie Lichtenvoorde manufactured its own brands of roof top antennas in aluminium. In the 1975s Metaalwarenindustrie Lichtenvoorde started to supply the machine building and lighting industry with industrial castings. One of the main clients in the early 90's was Philips Lighting.
The trade name Alumess was introduced and taken over by Louis Mols Jr in 1985. Alumess focused on gravity castings in aluminium and brass. During the next decade Alumess BV is continuously growing and developing with their gravity casting foundry in the Netherlands.
In 2003 Berry F. Mols joined the company and started partnerships and sourcing activities in Romania. A year later Alumess extended the partnerships to Hungary and Turkey. In 2007 sourcing activities in China started, which led to the first establishment in Ningbo already one year later.
Ningbo Alumess Import & Export Company Ltd. was established in 2011, as a wholly foreign owned enterprise. In the same year Mr. Berry Mols moved, including his whole family, to Ningbo to be able to manage, coordinate and control Alumess’ activities according to western standards.
In 2012 Alumess manufacturing and sourcing activities grew rapidly due to new partnerships and extension of new facilities. Furthermore Alumess started to implement the new Chinese ERP, - and quality- system according to ISO 9001.
At the beginning of 2013 Alumess was certified ISO 9001 by TÜV SÜD. In autumn Alumess moved to a new office including own factory with over 1500 SQM.
